How do I choose my portable espresso machine?
While there are few travel coffee makers available, they are nonetheless very different and in some ways very similar from one model to another. That’s why each criterion must be carefully considered to meet your coffee needs and habits.
Caution, a direct consequence of this criterion is the temperature of the water to be poured into the appliance. Electric coffee makers heat the water, so you only need a bottle of cold water. Manual energy machines do not heat the water, so hot water (e.g. from a thermos flask) is needed.

How do I use a portable espresso machine?
Electrical machines are very easy to use and it takes about 4 minutes to do everything. The coffee maker is plugged into the cigarette lighter, water is poured in and the coffee is brewed. Then you just have to wait until the water is hot to start the extraction. This operation can be a little tricky and it is best to position the coffee maker just above the cup to avoid splashing.
For manual machines, the principle is much the same, except that the coffee pot is filled with hot water. So instead of waiting for the water to heat up, you have to pump the coffee to increase the pressure. Then we start the extraction and enjoy.
Maintenance is very limited, since only the spout and the pod holder require a small shot of water.
The different types of travel coffeemakers
There are two types of nomadic coffee makers.
→ Coffeemakers to use on a cigarette lighter. They heat the water and make the coffee. They cannot operate without electricity. However, it is possible to buy an adapter so that they can also be connected to a standard electrical outlet.
→ Coffeemakers to use out in the open. These machines do not need batteries and it is human energy that allows the coffee to be extracted. The coffee has to be pumped to get the right pressure. But this also means that the machine does not heat the water, so you have to provide hot water by other means.
As digital nomads (those web workers who live by travelling) are more and more numerous, new objects are appearing to respond to the growing movements in our daily lives. These coffee makers are one of them. And even if they are relatively new products, there are already beautiful coffee machines at our disposal. They are modern, robust and easy to use anywhere!
